A heart-rending handwritten letter with the signature of Rabbi Aryeh Levin, in which he appeals to Knesset member Esther Raziel-Naor, requesting that she kindly agree to devote half an hour of her time to speak with his young daughter-in-law, who “feels she has been discriminated against in certain matters which are unclear to me” regarding teaching positions. Jerusalem, Adar 5741 [1981].
In his letter, Rabbi Aryeh Levin addresses Mrs. Esther Naor with exalted titles: “the noble woman who suffers the suffering of her people…”, and lavishes words of honor upon her husband and family. He describes his young daughter-in-law as “one of the refugees who survived the extermination camps, saved by divine mercy, ” and explains that after immigrating to Eretz Israel, she studied at the Haifa Seminary but was unable to continue as a teacher, and now feels she is being discriminated against in some matters. In the letter, Rabbi Aryeh Levin emphasizes that he seeks Mrs. Naor’s help only if, in her eyes, his daughter-in-law is one hundred percent justified in what she says — not a bit less.
