Conseil National de la Résistance – A leather shoulder badge, of the Jewish National Resistance Council during World War II. France, 1940s. Rare.
A woven leather badge in blue white and red colors with the letters CNR initials for Conseil National de la Résistance and a red Magen David.
The National Resistance Council. Founded on May 27, 1943, the CNR effectively united the various resistance groups in France – the CGT and CFTC unions under a single guiding principle: “An immediate action plan against the oppressor and steps to establish a fairer social order upon the liberation of French territory”. The C.N.R stood as a united front against the world behind General de Gaulle, and worked openly and clandestinely to liberate France.
