The “Mogen David” wine company is one of the oldest wine producers in America, founded in 1933. The wines are kosher, including kosher for Passover. The English spelling Mogen David reflects the Yiddish pronunciation of the word “Mogen”. The company was founded in Chicago and is based today in New York. In 1949 Mogen David’s annual production reached over 3,000,000 gallons in the US. Cola New York purchased Mogen David on November 1, 1970 for 16,750,000 dollars in cash. A year later it became the third largest wine producer in the United States.
