The Bolshevik Abscess, anti-Semitic and anti-Bolshevik propaganda booklet, published by the French Ministry of Information. [Paris 1941?]. French. Rare.
An anti-Semitic and anti-Bolshevik propaganda pamphlet, accompanied by numerous caricatures and photographs. The booklet attacks Bolshevism whose goal is to take over France, tries to show the dire consequences of the communist regime, and blames the Jews for taking over Soviet Russia from within and for attempting to Bolshevize the world. It contains harsh anti-Semitic passages such as: “The Jew who is present wherever the exploitation of human misery and destruction of everything good and beautiful on this earth is discussed… 393 Jews out of 490 are members of the Soviet government! A proportion that needs no explanation…”. On another page the booklet lists the number of Jews in various Soviet committees, alongside anti-Semitic caricatures of a Jew with a long nose, and more.
At the beginning of the booklet it states that “all documents, photographs and illustrations are authentic. Source: American Relief Association”. The booklet’s cover features a colorful illustration of the globe oozing the “Bolshevik abscess”. It contains disturbing photographs of dead bodies, ostensibly showing the results of Bolshevism, intended to evoke feelings of fear and hatred towards anything Jewish.
