By 1942, tens of thousands of Jews had already been deported from the Łódź Ghetto to extermination camps, primarily to Chelmno. August 1942 marked one of the most horrific periods in the ghetto, with the beginning of the “Kinderaktion” (Children’s Operation), which continued in the following months. It is chilling to consider: while tens of thousands of Jewish men, women, and children were being sent to their deaths daily, SS officers gifted a birthday present – a book written by the chief racial theorist of Nazi ideology and a key architect of the extermination program, Alfred Rosenberg.
This book contains Rosenberg’s speeches, including his propaganda on the “Final Solution”, which he described as bringing a “new era” to Europe, and the role of the Nazi Party in implementing it.
