LA CADUTA DELLA GERMANIA – The Fall of Germany – “The announcement just published about the cessation of hostilities with Germany moved millions of men who poured into the streets, squares, and countryside, faces full of tears, and at last they could shout: The war is over!” – An Anti-Nazi Pamphlet in Fascist Italy Published with Germany’s Defeat in the War. The top of the pamphlet reads: ‘Very Important! Convincing! Sensational!’ Published by Affini-Bari, Italy [1945] – Only Edition. Extremely Rare.
A rare pamphlet issued in Italy by a group of disillusioned Italians who realized the devastation brought upon them by the German-Italian alliance upon hearing the news of Nazi Germany’s surrender. “The immense drama that armed us against each other, blind with passion and revenge, is finally over… Let us look around and reflect on the disasters, the catastrophes that have befallen us. Let us pause in solemn reflection to remember…”. The pamphlet describes The deception of Nazism from its inception, beginning with a parable about young Hitler and the twisted principles he grew up with. How Hitler laid out his sinister plan in “Mein Kampf” and attempted to execute it during the war. The strategic mistakes made by Nazi Germany, one after another, with a single aim in sight: mass murder. The tragic mistake of Italy in aligning itself with Germany. Written in the spirit of sobriety that swept through Italy at the end of the war, as the full extent of the Axis powers’ defeat and the horrors they unleashed became known. The pamphlet is accompanied by anti-Nazi cartoons mocking Himmler, Hitler, and the Nazi doctrine. In solidarity with the Allies, the pamphlet opens with a portrait of Franklin D. Roosevelt.
