THE JEWS IN NAZI GERMANY; THE FACTUAL RECORD OF THEIR PERSECUTION BY THE NATIONAL SOCIALISTS, published by The American Jewish Committee, New York 1933 – First Edition. English. The first publication in America about the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany months after Hitler’s rise to power.

“The following pages present the facts regarding the oppression and violence suffered by German Jews, and the humiliation to which they are now subjected under the present regime. These facts are submitted to the judgment of the American public in the light of traditional American principles of justice and fair play. New York, June 19, 1933”. The first publication in America about the persecution of Jews in Nazi Germany months after Hitler’s rise to power. A detailed report on the first decrees enacted against Jews in Nazi Germany and their actual implementation – depriving Jews of citizenship rights, “cleansing” Jews from schools, distancing Jewish doctors from hospitals, banning Jewish press, canceling business and municipal contracts between Jews and non-Jews, firing of Jewish judges and doctors in Prussia, firing Jews from civil service positions, prohibiting the sale of Jewish books, boycott of Jewish businesses and explicit prohibition to buy from Jews, reports of acts of violence, murder and massacres of Jews by members of the Storm Troopers (SA) who were the first to persecute Jews in Nazi Germany, fleeing and emigration of Jews from Germany as a result of their persecution, and more.
It also includes an extensive review of anti-Semitic propaganda in all its forms even before Hitler’s rise to power and even more so after – and dissemination of anti-Semitic materials in Germany. The report includes the first laws enacted in Nazi Germany against Jews in the first few months of 1933 in English translation, and more. It quotes, among other things, letters received by Americans from relatives in Germany, writing about the daily acts of abuse by Nazis against Jews on the streets, in cafes, entrance halls and courtyards.
The second part of the pamphlet brings speeches delivered in the US Senate on June 10, 1933 in response to the Nazi regime in Germany, in which government representatives condemn Nazi brutality and detail the atrocities occurring against Jews in Nazi Germany, as well as extensive articles from the American press first exposing the horrific extent to which the plague of anti-Semitism had reached in Germany. Resolutions by boards of various institutions in America condemning the persecution of Jews are also brought.
On the cover appears the symbol of the American Jewish Committee with the Hebrew inscription: “Maintain strength for our people”.
