COBJETCСКА УНИЈА и СРБИЈА – The Soviet Union and Serbia – An antisemitic caricature booklet with harsh messages against Jews, communists, and partisans in Yugoslavia. Serbia, early 1940s. Serbian. Extremely rare.
Through caricatures depicting a Jewish figure with long sidelocks and a long coat, the booklet presents a bleak picture of Serbia—portraying chaos allegedly exploited by Jews and partisans for their own benefit while depicting them as parasitic and subversive figures. The Jews are portrayed as the leaders of the communist revolution, pushing communism to persecute the Christian Church as part of their broader agenda. Additionally, they are accused of attempting to control Yugoslavia by sowing internal division and instilling fear of a conspiracy in which communists and Jews would take over Serbia and enslave the Serbian people. Ultimately, the Nazi regime is presented as the force that will restore order against the “anarchy” of communism, which is said to be controlled by Jews, and as the power that will liberate the homeland. Throughout the booklet, antisemitic narratives and public fear-mongering are employed to demonize certain groups, with Jews as the primary target.
Extremely rare. The booklet does not appear in the WorldCat global library catalog.
