THE TRADE OF THE HOUSE OF JUDAS – ‘The Trade of Beit Yehuda’ – an antisemitic proclamation mocking the wrong ways the Jews are engaged in them for a living [England], 1930s.
In the center of the proclamation is a stereotypical figure of a Jew inside a Star of David. On the Star of David were written the Obscene ways of occupation of the Jew: ‘international spy’, ‘fake auctioneer’, ‘bankruptcy expert’, ‘shyster lawyer’, ‘conveyer of stolen goods’, and more. Under the Star of David was written the addition: “And any trade that the law forbids.”
Under the Star of David were written the warning: “JUDAS BEWARE – SHED YOUR EVIL TRAITS OR THERE WILL BE A REVERSED PASSOVER FOR YOU” (referring to the Exodus where the Jews defeated the Egyptians, here the proclamation warns that the opposite may happen to the Jews themselves).
