The Vanished World, published by the Forward Association, New York, 1947. English and Yiddish.
An album book edited by Raphael Abramowitz containing 530 varied photographs [the size of an entire page] from various Jewish cities and villages in Eastern Europe, which depict Jewish community life in pre-Holocaust Eastern Europe: photographs of Jewish figures, synagogues, streets, stores, and daily life.
The book is divided into two parts – photographs of streets and buildings in Jewish cities, and photographs of Jewish figures. It also contains photographs of important Rebbes [The Spinka Rebbe], well-known Rabbis [Rabbi Elchanan Wasserman, Rabbi Aharon Kotler], photographs of important funerals, yeshivot, pioneers and more. Each photograph is described in Yiddish and English. Most of the photographs were taken by Roman Vishniac, M. Kipnis and Alter Kacyzna.
