Deutschen Kinderwelt – Children’s World – A reading booklet for children with colorful illustrations, a vibrant magazine for children in Nazi Germany, educating them according to Nazi ideology. Leipzig, 1936 – 25 consecutive issues – All the issues released in 1936 are stored in the original packaging (not bound). Rare.

The children’s magazine Deutschen Kinderwelt (Children’s World) contains stories and high-quality lithographic-style colored illustrations dealing with the children’s world, embedding Nazi messages in the illustrations and stories about Germany’s superiority under Hitler’s leadership, the Hitler Youth, and educating children to be part of the new German era when they grow up.

Deutschen Kinderwelt was published from 1926 until September 1944, initially by Emil Pinkau & Co., Leipzig, and from 1929 by ‘Die Kinderwelt.’ The magazine was issued bi-weekly in an 8-page format and printed on thick paper. Each issue featured a large cover image aimed at the main article of the issue, as well as two full-page pictures in the center spread. Each issue included short stories, fairy tales, songs, riddles, puzzles, and sometimes cut-out sheets. Sales were conducted via subscriptions, and orders were accepted at post offices. The magazine was available in Germany, German Austria, Czechoslovakia, and Switzerland. Between 1934 and 1935, the swastika appeared as part of the logo in the upper left corner (after the rise of the National Socialists in 1933, many companies used the swastika as an advertising symbol, leading to its uncontrolled use for unrelated products. In 1935, the swastika officially became a state symbol and could only be used for sovereign purposes. Illustrations aligning with the regime, such as buildings with swastika flags, were permitted and can still be occasionally found in “Children’s World” after 1935). Short stories conveyed German national patriotism, and the “cult of leaders” was honored. Among the illustrators featured in the magazine were Nora Schnitzler, Bruno Zwiener, Ilse Meister Zeyen, and others.
