Three Shana Tova greeting cards hand-painted over official Nazi German postcards. Fronts have watercolor illustrations of the High Priest and Jews blowing the shofar. Backs have printed Hitler portrait stamp and blank space to fil personal details – sender’s name, address, and recipient – printed in German. Rare.
One back has printed German praise for Hitler: “Der Fuhrer kennt nur kampf Arbeit und Sorge. Wir wollen ihm den Teil abnehmen, Den wir ihm abnehmen Konnen” – “The Führer knows only struggle, work and worry. We want to take from him the part that we can take from him”. The sentence is based on a speech Hitler gave in Munich on November 8, 1933. In it, Hitler praised the German people for supporting the Nazi Party and being willing to make sacrifices for the collective good. He said about himself that he knows only struggle, work and worry. Later in the speech he continued that the German people help the Führer by taking on part of his burden. This sentence was printed on official Reich postcards.
Not mailed, paint smudges on some postcards. Very good condition.
