The Events of the Battle: Details the face-to-face combat, attack and retreat routes, and key battle sites.
The Army’s Positions: Shows the positions of the forces during the battles.
Battalion 68 was a reserve battalion sent to man the fortifications on the eve of the Yom Kippur War. The battalion’s soldiers were stationed in the northern and central sectors, while Nahal soldiers manned the four outposts in the southern sector. The war struck unexpectedly. Within three days, all the outposts fell to the Egyptians except for the northern outpost, Budapest. 76 soldiers of the battalion were killed, with the rest either captured or managing to retreat and regroup with IDF forces.
