“Adolf Eichmann – murderer of millions” – issue of the newspaper Davar LeYeladim dated April 11, 1961 – the day the Adolf Eichmann trial officially opened in Jerusalem – the day of the opening session.

On the front page of the issue appears a photograph of a young girl wearing a yellow badge, alongside the biblical verse: “Remember what Amalek did to you!” The inner pages describe: “The Nazis sought to humiliate her, but the disgrace was not hers – it was theirs.” The inner pages are devoted to the horrific events of the Holocaust – the ghettos and the death camps. The main article, titled “Adolf Eichmann – murderer of millions, ” is entirely dedicated to Eichmann’s capture and his prosecution in Jerusalem. Next to a color photo of Eichmann with the caption “The tyrant is brought before an Israeli judge for an extension of his detention”, the article reads: “One of the greatest atrocities committed by the Nazis during World War II – if not the greatest – was the cold-blooded and systematic murder of millions of human beings of various nationalities, by shooting, hanging, suffocation, gas, starvation, and various cruel forms of torture… And one man devoted himself to carrying out and overseeing this diabolical plan – none other than the head of the Jewish Affairs Department of the Gestapo, Obersturmbannführer (Lieutenant Colonel) Adolf Eichmann.” A photograph appears of the prosecutors preparing the indictment with incriminating material collected from around the world. The article outlines the sequence of events leading to Eichmann’s capture in Argentina, his postwar escape, and how he was eventually apprehended years later by Mossad agents. The issue includes the detailed indictment (in a children’s newspaper!) listing the various charges, including direct responsibility for the murder of millions of Jews, and a description of the atrocities Eichmann carried out. Further articles discuss antisemitism, the stamp used by the Nazis in the antisemitic exhibition “The Wandering Jew, ” stamps from extermination camps, and more. On the back of the issue: photographs from the Warsaw Ghetto.
