Two American Cent Coins – For Luck and Blessing from Jewish Merchants.
1945 American Cent Coin: Enclosed in a round aluminum frame, issued by the Osterman and Levey family jewelers. The front is inscribed with: “Keep me and you will have Good Luck”, and the back reads: “Osterman & Levey kredit jewelers next to tiedtke’s”. Osterman and Levey were credit jewelers located next to Tiedtke’s department store. Diameter: 3.5 cm.
1952 American Cent Coin: Surrounded by an aluminum frame, issued by the Jewish Goldberg family merchants. The front is inscribed with: “Keep me and never go broke”, and on the back: “Tailors Clothiers GOLDBERG’S over 50 years 4TH and Market”. This refers to the Goldberg family, who were tailors and clothiers for over 50 years at 4th and Market. Maximum diameter: 4 cm.
