Two cabinet photographs of Jewish soldiers in the army of the Russian Empire – World War I – officially certified and stamped.

Portrait photograph of the Jewish soldier Viktor Klimanovich Fish from the city of Kiev (5 Velyka Vasylkivska Street). On the reverse: inscription and dating – April 2, 1918. Ink stamps from the Kiev authority, including departmental stamps and signatures.

Portrait photograph of a Jewish soldier bearing a wax seal and string. The name of the soldier appears on the reverse – Mendel Khaimovich Friedman, resident of Kiev, 34 Kuznechnaya Street (Blacksmiths’ Street), along with the statement: “Hereby certifying the identity and authenticity of the attached photograph.” Dated: March 29, 1916. Official stamp of the Kiev Municipal Health Department confirming the identity of the person photographed. Photographer’s studio: Białystok.
