The Kassidah is a form of poetry originating in pre-Islamic Arabia. With the Islamic conquest, it became widespread across various cultures, including Arabic, Persian, and Turkish traditions. The Kassidah was introduced into Hebrew poetry by Dunash ben Labrat. The original meaning of the word Kassidah is “reaching the goal, ” and it later came to signify a poem of a specific structure, with no fewer than ten stanzas.
