Two issues of the American newspaper “The National Police Gazette” – the capture of Adolf Eichmann ahead of his trial, and speculative theories regarding the disappearance of Adolf Hitler. September 1960 and April 1961.
September 1960 issue – main headline: “Eichmann’s Capture Spotlight’s HITLER’S HIDEOUT”, with photographs of Adolf Eichmann and Adolf Hitler. This issue features an extensive article by George McGrath about Eichmann’s past in the Third Reich, his role in establishing Auschwitz and orchestrating the extermination of the Jews, his connection to Hitler, his post-war disappearance, his capture by the Israeli Mossad, and conspiracy theories regarding Nazi hideouts after the war. At the center of the article is the question: Did Hitler survive the war, and where might he have hidden? The author claims the well-known photograph of Hitler’s corpse in the Berlin bunker was actually one of his doubles, and cites U.S. intelligence officer Colonel W.J. Heimlich, who led the official investigation into Hitler’s death, as saying: “We found no evidence of Hitler’s death in Berlin… He could easily have escaped by plane from the Chancellery area…”. The article concludes: “Like Eichmann, it is likely Hitler escaped and underwent plastic surgery to become unrecognizable. But Israeli secret agents, with their disguise operations, fanatical resolve, and unlimited funds, may one day shock the world by uncovering Hitler’s hiding place – and perhaps even the Führer himself.”
April 1961 issue – main headline: “EICHMANN TRIAL: THE UNCENSORED FACTS”, and “What Israeli Secret Agents Found Out About Hitler’s Escape.” At the center is a detailed article by George McGrath about the capture of Adolf Eichmann and his trial in Jerusalem: “In an unprecedented trial in history – an event with almost Biblical overtones – Adolf Eichmann is about to stand trial in Israel. This is the first time a mass murderer is being prosecuted by the very people against whom he committed his atrocities.” The author notes that some of the most horrifying testimonies in human history are expected to be revealed during the trial. He also writes that Josef Mengele is still hiding in Argentina, along with several other Nazi war criminals, and documents the horrific atrocities committed in the death camps – especially the brutal medical experiments conducted on Jewish prisoners.
