The two engravings were originally published in the travel book “Le Navigationi Et Viaggi, Fatti Nella Turchia” by the French geographer Nicolas de Nicolay, published in Venice in 1568, In which the author drew 60 engravings of clothing styles in the Ottoman Empire that are considered faithful to reality.
