4 “League V” leaflets for residents of the country To support the Soviet War with Nazi fascism. ‘The victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany means the liberation of Judaism in European countries From certain death.’ June 1941, April 1942.

League V was established in Israel in October 1941 with the aim of supporting the Soviet Union in its Nazi war. The committee was mostly composed of members of the Hashomer Hatzair and was joined by public figures from other circles. The organization opened dozens of branches across the country where thousands of activists were active. And raised donations to help the Soviet Union. With funds raised the organization purchased three ambulances for their equipment. In April 1943, ambulances were driven by Jewish drivers from Israel to Iran, where they were handed over to the Red Army. A metal plaque on which each of the ambulances was affixed was inscribed on the door of each ambulance in three languages: Russian, Hebrew and Yiddish: ‘The Gift of the Hebrew Settlement, the Soviet Union and the Red Army, League V in Israel’.
