Voucher for the amount of 5 rubles which was issued by the “Central Office of the Cooperatives in Minsk”. [Minsk, 1918].
In return for this voucher, “the member will receive goods for a total of five rubles from the cooperatives: Aguda, Ahava, Ahiezer, Baali-Melacha, HaChaver, Merkaz, Ezera, Hapoel, Kadima, Ahadut and Shalem.” In the background of the vouchers is a Star of David with the word “Zion”.
In the book ” “מינסק עיר ואם” (edited by Shlomo Ibn Shushan, 1975), the testimony of Aryeh Doltzin, former chairman of the World Zionist Organization, born in Minsk, whose father was the manager of a cooperative in the city, wrote about these vouchers: “…in Minsk, were established in -1918, during the German occupation, Zionist consumer cooperatives by the General Zionist Organization. Even money bills were printed in Hebrew. When the Soviet government was established in the city – these cooperatives became state…”.
