L’EXTERMINATION ET LA RESISTANCE DES JUIFS EN POLOGNE DANS LES ANNEES 1939-1944 – The extermination and resistance of the Jews in Poland 1939-1944 by Berl Mark, published by L’INSTITUT DE L’HISTOIRE JUIVE, Warsaw 1955 – first edition. French.

“The heroic rebels fought to the last cartridge. To the last drop of blood, and inflicted the most serious losses on the Nazi enemy… They died with weapons in hand… Fearlessly the boys and girls threw themselves onto the tanks… The heroic uprising of the Warsaw Ghetto had a profound effect on the ghettos , in other cities, and even in the concentration camps… “get rid of any feeling of pity” was the order given by the leaders of the Third Reich to the SS soldiers. The memory of the mother appearing on the balcony of a burning house, throwing her child into the street while Stroop’s soldiers take pictures… the unfortunates who surrendered are led away and bitten by the SS dogs…”.

An important and early publication documenting in detail the establishment of the Nazi death camps, the mass extermination, and the occurrence of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising step by step. Accompanied by photographs that were taken in the ghetto during the uprising, some from the ‘Institute of Jewish History’, and others that were found by Stroop, the commander of the Nazi forces during the uprising.
