“Yehuda Naor: Words in His Memory” – Memorial Booklet on the First Anniversary of His Passing – A Copy Dedicated and Signed by His Wife, Knesset Member Esther Raziel-Naor, to Dr. Shamshon Erdman. The booklet itself is rare.
On the 19th of Kislev, 5747 (December 21, 1986), a memorial evening was held at the Raziel-Naor family home in Jerusalem, marking the first anniversary of Yehuda Naor’s passing. Attending the event were family members, friends, comrades-in-arms, and long-time partners in his many years of work for the Jewish people and the Land of Israel. Several individuals shared chapters from his life, personal memories, and insights about his character. This booklet contains the main speeches delivered that evening. Among the contributors whose words appear in the booklet are: Yaakov Meridor, Eliyahu Lankin, Esther Raziel-Naor, Yisrael Arkin, Baruch Manikovich, Tzvi Schwartz, and others.
Yehuda Naor, the husband of Esther Raziel-Naor (a senior commander in the Irgun and later a member of the Knesset), was arrested by the British police on March 4, 1944, when an illegal radio transmitter was discovered in their home. After two months of interrogation, Esther, who was pregnant at the time, was transferred to the Bethlehem Women’s Prison. Yehuda was sent to Acre Prison and later exiled to the Gilgil detention camp in Africa, where he remained for 4.5 years until the establishment of the State of Israel.
