During this period, anarchists, especially those affiliated with the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (CNT) and FAI, adopted the Ⓐ - abbreviation of "Anarchism", circled as a symbol of their ideology and resistance against authoritarianism, fascism, and hierarchy. The symbol representing the movement was created in 1910 in Barcelona, and was used on the flags, banners and publications of the anarchist factions involved in the Spanish Civil War and was internationally recognized as a symbol of anarchism during and after this period. It is rare to find the movement symbol combined with a Jewish symbol.
