Charlotte's Web - By Elwyn Brooks White with illustrations by Garth Williams - Harper & Brothers New York, 1952 - First Edition - Copy with dedication and signature of the author. The best-selling children's book of all time.

The novel tells the story of livestock pig named Wilbur and his friendship with a barn spider named Charlotte. When Wilbur is in danger of being slaughtered by the farmer, Charlotte writes messages praising Wilbur (such as "a great pig"), in order to convince the farmer to keep him alive. The book is considered a classic of children's literature, and was even chosen as the most loved book of all time in a survey conducted by the Association of School Libraries in the United States. The book sold more than 45 million copies, and was translated into 23 languages. It won a Newbery Award in 1953, and in 2000, Publisher's Weekly reported that it was also the best-selling children's book of all time. The book was released in several film versions.

Elwyn Brooks White; (1899-1985) American writer for adults and children. Wrote more than twenty books of poetry and prose and won many awards, including the Andersen Medal, the Pulitzer Prize and the Newbery Award. Among his famous books are "Stewart Little", "Magic Farm" and "Louie's Trumpet". He was also an editorial member of the New Yorker magazine. Like many of the heroes of his books, White lived most of his life on a farm in the state of Maine in the United States.
