Arbeiter, auf ein Wort! Von Karl Paumgartten - Workers, just a word! By Karl Paumgartten. Published by Heimatverlag L. Stocker. Graz (Austria) 1926 - first edition.
Antisemitic booklet blaming the Jews for the plight of the German working class. The author appeals directly to the working class itself and explains that his goal is to protect their rights as well as the socio-political issues for which their status is harmed. He describes the harsh working conditions faced by workers, including long hours, low wages and an unsafe environment, and claims that workers are exploited by Jewish industrialists with capital who see only their own good. The writer directs the frustration and anger of the workers towards the Jewish community. He attacks the capitalist economic system that plays only to the benefit of the Jews, and encourages workers to be politically active and support movements and parties that represent their interests. The booklet is written in the typical German antisemitic tone of the 1920s used by political movements to shift blame from systemic problems that can be addressed technically - to blaming the Jews for all disasters. Accompanied by antisemitic caricatures depicting the exploitative Jew ruling at the expense of the middle class.
