A historical photograph from the swearing-in ceremony of the first president Haim Weizmann - February 17, 1949, in which the president is seen swearing allegiance to the national institutions.
In his historic speech at that ceremony, Weizmann promised to act according to his favorite verse: "צִיּוֹן בְּמִשְׁפָּט תִּפָּדֶה וְשָׁבֶיהָ בִּצְדָקָה" and ended with "Shehehiyanu" blessing , during which his voice was broken. At the front of the stage can be seen Moshe Sharett and the Ashkenazi and Sephardi chief rabbis, and other statesmen.
