Christian van Adrichem(1533-1585) - Cartographer and theologian, born in Delft, the Netherlands. He wrote several essays on the subject of the land of Israel. This essay is one of the early elementary studies that dealt with the geography of Israel. Among the maps and illustrations are the tribes of Israel, the cities of asylum and the cities of the Levites, the conquests of Joshua Ben Nun, the travels of the patriarchs and more. The book includes a lexicon of some 300 sites in and around Jerusalem. Among other things, Adrichem drew his knowledge from ancient pilgrims who had been in the land of Israel and from the work of Josephus Flavius.

Incomplete copy. Missing title page. Accompanied by seven maps (engravings) of the tribes of Israel (from 12 originally).

[10], 286, [29] pages + [7] maps, 38.5 cm. Original leather binding with embossed decoration. First leaves detached and slightly damaged at edges. Few stains. Minor spine damage .Good condition.
