13 photographs by Ephraim Moshe Lilien - Jews of the Land of Israel in their traditional dress - Yemenis, Bukharans and others.
In the years 1906-1918, Lilien visited Eretz Israel four times. In his letters to his wife he describes subjects and sites he photographed during those visits. The glass negatives were developed by Lilien in the laboratory of the Arab photographer Khalil Raad in Jerusalem. Lilien focused his photographs on biblical figures and landscapes, in that he distinguished from other photographers of his time who photographed mainly the development of the pioneering Jewish community in the Land of Israel.
