My Way From East to West, Reminiscences by Yehudo Epstein - An autobiography of the famous painter Yehudo Epstein in English, with hundreds of handwritten notes and corrections. The English version before us was never printed. (The book was originally written in German and was published in Stuttgart in 1929 under the name "Mein Weg von Ost nacht West, Errinerungen").

Epstein, a native of Slutsk, studied art in Vienna (Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien) after not being allowed to study in Russia. Arrived in Vienna without any prior knowledge of the German language, where he studied with August Eisenmanger. At that time he created one of his monumental works - Jews playing chess. In 1920 he presented an important exhibition in Vienna. Epstein is considered one of the most important Jewish painters of his time, and many paint Jewish scenes that reflected Jewish daily life, alongside the life of the popular Jew. In 1935 he emigrated to South Africa, where he died.
