Тако је дошао ратa - This is how the war broke out. Published by ПРОСВЕТНА АЈЕДНИЦА А. Д. БЕОГРАД. Serbia [1939]. Serbian. First edition. An antisemitic publication distorting the events that preceded the outbreak of World War II, and presents a picture as if Germany wanted peace, and the Allied powers led to war for the Jewish interest.

An antisemitic publication claiming that the Allies deliberately thwarted the talks held with Germany because by virtue of Jewish influence they preferred the war from which only the Jews are likely to profit. The book is written in a distorted form of a chronological story documenting the diplomatic conduct between the ambassadors of England, France and Russia and the German ambassadors and presents a picture as if the ambassadors of the Allies deliberately deceived the Germans with false declarations, and thwarted the negotiations in order to cause Germany to start a war from which the Jews are destined to profit. The representatives of the German Reich are described as honest people who stand by their word and desire interests that benefit all parties, while the leaders of the Allies are described in sarcastic language as cunning warmongers. For example, it is described: "Minister Ribbentrop arrived on time for the meeting and after him the ambassador... the cunning Stalin, dressed in a wool shirt and brown trousers, greeted the guests... England is the one that poisons the atmosphere, if it weren't for England last year, a peaceful solution could have been reached with Czechoslovakia...", and so throughout the book. The book is accompanied by photographs of various events attended by the heads of the Allied powers before the outbreak of the war in order to create a credible representation of the story described.

On the cover is an antisemitic illustration of a Jew with stereotypical features pulling the string of the Briton and adjusts the clock to the outbreak of World War II on September 3, 1939.

Extremely rare. Does not appear in the world cat library catalog.
