Tunisie Corse Nice - "Tunisia Corsica Nice" - rare booklet issued with the liberation of Tunisia from the Nazi-Italian occupier, which marked the imminent liberation of the rest of the occupied French cities. "Tunisia is liberated today". French. [France 1943]. Photographs and maps in color and black and white. Extremely rare.

The booklet opens with a festive declaration: "The Italian soldiers conquered Nice and Corsica on November 2, 1942. During the following weeks, the Italians and their German allies, expelled from Libya by the British Fifth Army, turned their eyes towards positions in Tunisia, in a last desperate effort to keep control of the central Mediterranean. Today Tunisia is liberated! Soon, it will be the turn of Corsica and Nice - Marseille, Le Havre, Paris, Bordeaux, Nantes, Lyon, Lille, Strasbourg, Metz... The strong armies of the United Nations are advancing. On the soil of North Africa the French Army is reconstituting itself... Germany and Italy will find themselves crushed."

The booklet is accompanied by photographs of the Italians leaving, a German soldier surrendering, an aerial map showing an American bomber dropping bombs on a German airfield in Tunisia, with two enemy planes going up in flames "soon many more planes will burn in airfields in Europe", it is written. A colored map of the liberated North African territories, planes and tanks of the Allies, a rare photograph showing Allied soldiers distributing food to the children of North Africa during the liberation, a colorful illustration of Allied soldiers waving their weapons to victory. On the cover is a photograph of Mussolini and an X over the word Tunisia, indicating that it is no longer under his control.

On November 9, 1942, German and Italian forces entered Tunisia in response to Operation Torch, the Allied invasion of Algeria and Morocco. In total, close to 5,000 Jews were taken to forced labor. They were scattered in about 30 sites and camps. On Friday, May 7, 1943, the Allies liberated Tunisia from the Germans. After six days the campaign in Tunisia came to an end.
