Twelve telegrams sent from New York to Cuba in the second half of 1941 dealing with the rescue of the Bloch family members, 1941.
Telegrams dealing with visa requests, documents, letters that were sent and did not reach their destination, and more. In the telegrams, the names appear in allusions, such as Rozofsky, Elumardecai (his name appears in various forms), Blochkatz, Elimeyer, Leisertauwi, Kaplan. The telegrams were sent to Cuba between June and October 1941.
The telegrams deal with the rescue of the Bloch family, an important rabbinical family, the ancestors of the family lived in Talez and ran a large yeshiva there. Some of the telegrams are addressed to Sorotskin - referring to the sons of Rabbi Zalman Sorotskin who were descendants of the same family, the senders are Rabbis Eliyahu Meir Bloch, Chaim Mordechai Katz, and Mordechai Gifter - all three rabbis are also famous from the Bloch family, in the telegrams they sign the combined name of the families Blochkach - known as an abbreviation of Bloch and Katzt, or Alimordechai - which is short for Eliyahu Meir and Haim Mordechai.
