Rabbi Yosef Chaim HaCohen [1851-1921] Rabbi of the Westerners (the Moroccan community) in Jerusalem, author of Minchat Cohen and VaYechalkel Yosef. Was born in Mogador, Morocco, and immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1864. The family settled in the Old City of Jerusalem. On May 21, 1900, he was elected head of the Western Community Committee in Jerusalem. Served as the right hand of Rishon Lezion, Rabbi Nachman Batito. After his death, Rabbi HaCohen was appointed rabbi of the Moroccan community in Jerusalem.
