The Galilee Conference of "Tze'irei Hechalutz Hamizrachi" and "Hashomer HaDati" in Baranovich, Eyar 11, 1933. Photographer: SZYK Baranovich.

The "He - Chaluts HaMizrachi" movement was founded in Germany in 1928 following the third Mizrahi Youth Conference led by Eugen Michaelis in Hamburg, where it was decided to establish the "Youth Alliance of the Mizrahi Youth", which separates from the Mizrahi youths as lacking political diversity and belonging to the Mizrahi movement. The movement published a monthly called "Our Lives." It was initially called "He - Chaluts HaMizrachi", but because its founders sought to give it a neutral name devoid of political ties and party labeling, a name was chosen that included youth from all different streams in Germany. The first nucleus of its members included eleven Rodges trainees, who immigrated in 1929 and established the "Rodges Group" (later the Yavneh Group) on a farm in Kfar Avraham near Petah Tikva. Apart from Germany, the movement operated in Austria, Czechoslovakia, the Netherlands, Romania and England, where it established training centers, as well as in Poland, where the movement's pioneers operated within the framework of Bnei Akiva and Hashomer HaDati.
