Unlike the date ultimately set for Holocaust Remembrance Day - Nissan 27.
The content that appears in the letter refers to the existence of a full 'Holocaust Day', which includes memorial prayers in the synagogues, lighting the ashes of the ash jars in the Holocaust cellar on Mount Zion, and a central memorial prayer in the Holocaust cellar. The determination of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel that the tenth of Tevet will be "General Kaddish Day" in memory of the victims of the Holocaust, preceded the Date state selection, and in fact even preceded the establishment of the State of Israel. The Chief Rabbinate refused to accept the proposal of Nisan 27th, because the halachah forbids saying a Tachanun, setting a public fast and holding an obituary in the month of Nisan, known as the "month of redemption", despite the mourning customs that apply at the time of the Omer count.
