A photograph of David Ben-Gurion signing the Declaration of Independence at the solemn announcement ceremony held at the Tel Aviv Museum on Rothschild Boulevard. Next to him, Moshe Sharet holds the page. May 14, 1948.

Photographed, apparently, by the American photographer Frank Sherschel [1907-1981], who photographed most of the signatories at the ceremony. After World War II, Sharshel came to Eretz Israel to photograph, and perpetuated the struggle of the Jewish community for the establishment of the State of Israel. He photographed the arrival of the illegal immigrant ship Exodus and then, the declaration of independence, the Battle of Yad Mordechai, the bombing of the central station in Tel Aviv by the Egyptian Air Force and other places and important events during the War of Independence.

Size: 23x21 cm. Very good condition.
