A large portrait drawing of the Commander of the Irgun David Raziel, charcoal on parchment, signed and dated: "S. S. 1946".

David Raziel, [1910-1941] "Major General Ben Anat, " one of the founders of the Irgun and its fourth commander and Betar Commissioner in Palestine. Immigrated to Eretz Israel with his family when he was three, but because of the Russian citizenship, the family was deported for eight years until returned to Eretz Israel. Raziel completed his high school studies at Tachkemoni, where his father taught, and continued his studies at Yeshivat Merkaz Harav in Jerusalem. In addition, he studied at the Hebrew University and was a member of the El Al student union. Raziel changed his negative attitude towards the British following the new common enemy at the outbreak of World War II - the Nazis. In 1941 Raziel was sent by the British to Iraq to suppress an anti-British revolt there. He headed out of a commando unit of four, and was killed in an attempt to capture the city of Falluja by bombing a German airplane.
