The Gringier Political weekly newspaper in France, founded in 1928 by Horace de Carbuccia. In his early years he represented a firm nationalist line, and occasionally featured anti-Semitic articles demanding the deportation of Jews from the territory of France. The newspaper's editors preached against the entanglement of the war with Germany, mainly because they feared that if it broke out, the French army would lose. Because Jews were perceived as wanting the war with anti-Semitic Germany, the paper developed a line of "Jews out" - those who complicate France in an unwanted war with the German enemy.
In his early years, he was considered one of the leading weekly in France, mainly because of the literary sections he presented. Ironically, among his writers were some Jews who published articles anonymously. The paper ceased to exist in 1945 after some of its editors were perceived by the Germans as partners in resistance and sent to Buchenwald.
