George Sandis' travels in the Ottoman Empire, Egypt, Israel (Jerusalem, Bethlehem, the Judean Mountains and more), Italy and the surrounding islands. The book is accompanied by about 45 engravings of the important sites in each area. The page before the title page has a double engraving - a map of the Mediterranean countries. The book, first published in 1615, is considered one of the most important travel books of the period, and it soon became the most accurate and accepted description of the Middle East. The author, George Sandys (1577-1644) was an English traveler, poet, and translator. In 1610 he began his travels in Europe and the Middle East, a journey he described in detail in the book before us "A Relation of a Journey begun". The book is considered a breakthrough in the field of geography and ethnology of the region, and its description is considered credible and accurate.
