The important work of Marie Dominique de Binos (1730-1803) in which he summarizes his journey to the Middle East. de Binos set out on a journey from France in 1776, through Italy he continued to Egypt, Palestine, Syria and Lebanon. In 1779 he returned to France via Cyprus. The book is accompanied by 12 engraving plates showing the inhabitants of the various areas he visited and their traditional costumes.
