Collection of approximately 50 letters sent from Lodz by the Hendl, Yankelevich, Unger (letters from different family members), Liba froyndan, Nisan, and others. Most are written in Yiddish (few in Polish), and deal with family matters, family weddings and celebrations (letters dealing with the Brit Mila of a baby born to the Unger family), livelihood problems, personal matters and more. Many of the letters were written by Rabbi Aharon Unger to his family members in Lodz itself and also several postcards he sent to Eretz Israel. Many of the letters are dated. Letters appear from the years 1933-1939. Rare documentation for Jewish life in Lodz before the establishment of the ghetto by the Nazis.

Among others appear greeting and blessing letters and Divrei Torah for the various holidays, an encouragement letter written on the fourth day of the Ten Days of Tshuva in Lodz 1937, also among the letters appear four postcards mailed from Lodz to Eretz Israel - one sent to the Glazer family in Tel Aviv from Lodz on May 29, 1939, and three postcards sent from Rabbi Aharon Unger, one on November 29, 1933 from Mr Kalish, an additional postcard sent by Rabbi Aharon Unger in October 1936, and an additional postcard in May 1939 - all three to the Glazer family in Tel Aviv.

The content of the letters was not thoroughly examined by us.

c. 50 letters, over 60 leaves, overall good - very good condition.
