A letter of inheritance to the widow Rachel Halberstadt from Germany, signed by the Badat"z rabbis of the Ashkenazim in Jerusalem, and by the hand of the Chacham Bashi Rabbi Nachman Batito.
Rabbi Nachman Batito [1885-1915] Rabbi of the Western community in Jerusalem, Chacham Bashi, and in the Rishon l'Zion. He was born in Marrakesh, Morocco. When he was a teenager, he immigrated to Eretz Israel with his parents, and settled in Jerusalem, where he first studied the Sephardic Talmud Torah in the city, and from there he continued his studies at Yeshiva Tiferet Yerushalayim. Later he became the leader of the Western community in Jerusalem, and after the "Great Rivalry of the Rabbis" in 1909 he was appointed Rishon Lezion. Authored "Din and Law", and his innovations were published in "Torah MiZion".
