A l'ombre des miradors - From the diaries of Belgian prisoners in the Stalag camps edited by Maurice Georges. France, December 1946 - limited edition of only 100 copies released, copy #37 signed by the author.

Early testimonies of prisoners who were interned by the Nazis in the Compiègne camps. The testimonies were written by the prisoners themselves during the war on papers and personal diaries, and describe in them the battles they fought on several fronts against the Germans, the fall into the hands of the Nazi enemy and the ways in which they were captured while fighting resistance, their capture and prosecution, the long months under interrogation and harsh captivity. An important, detailed, and one-of-a-kind publication that includes photographs and drawings describing the Belgian prisoners in the Stalag camps, scenes from the war, a map of the German camps in Europe, and detailed charts of the the structure of the various Stalag camps, and more. It is common to think that the conditions in the Stalag camps were relatively comfortable and this is because the Nazis wanted to maintain a semblance of normality towards the Red Cross people who were allowed to visit them, but from the publication before us the we see that the conditions there were very difficult.

Rare. Only one copy appears in the world library catalog "world cat".

183 [4] p. Very good condition.
