Militade SAVVIDES operated in Jerusalem from 1898-1948. Was of Greek descent. In 1889 he worked with the Jewish photographer Ya'akov Hutimsky and in 1904 opened a photo shop near the Jaffa Gate in partnership with a Greek photographer named Fusilidis. After two years, Savvides' brother joined the partnership. In the 1920s he moved the studio to Zion Square. He mainly engaged in portraiture and also photographed landscapes of Jerusalem and the country. The store was abandoned in 1948 and in 1969 more than 100 glass plates were donated to the Jerusalem City Archives.
