ALBUM fur POSTKARTEN Bilder aus dem altjudischen Familienleben - Album of photo postcards from the life of a traditional Jewish family by Moritz Oppenheim, published by Hoffman Frankfurt am Main, 1898. Luxurious album contains 20 postcards with illustrations of traditional Jewish family customs, hand-drawn by Moritz Daniel Oppenheim - a complete album featuring a full series, including the rare postcards of Oppenheim.

In the folder, 20 postcards are placed in pockets, depicting the life of the Jewish family - the godfather awaiting the child, taking out the Torah scroll, blessing the rabbi, the examination, the Bar Mitzvah speech, the wedding, welcoming Shabbat, Friday evening, Shabbat afternoon, Shabbat rest in the alley, Havdalah at the end of Shabbat, Seder night, in the Sukkah, the eve of Yom Kippur, Purim (a very rare postcard), wanderer in the village, the soldier (a very rare postcard), the return of the soldier, Hanukkah (a very rare postcard), and Simchat Torah.

The album cover is specially designed - a colorful postcard depicting the return of the Jewish soldier to his home and family - hand-painted (one of the rare postcards in the series). A special introduction about the artist Moritz Daniel Oppenheim, his life, his works, and his unique style of work (in German). Two title pages. The first title reads: Gruss aus NAH & FERN - "Greetings from Near and Far". And the illustration showing a girl sending a postcard by mail. All the album pages are adorned with leaves, flowers, and a figure of a child waving his hat.

Album: 22x15 cm. Postcards: 9x14 cm. A few stains on the inside of the cover. The last page is detached. General good condition.
