Pinchas Litvinovsky [1894-1985] Israeli painter. Winner of the Israel Prize for Painting in 1980. In his youth a student of "Bezalel" in Jerusalem, and a student of the Academy of Art in Petrograd. In the 1930s Litvinovsky spent a lot of time in Paris, and was influenced by the works of Henri Matisse, Picasso and the Jewish painters of the School of Paris. In 1935 he held his first solo exhibition of his works at Bezalel. In the late period he moved with his family and lived together with the artist Moshe Mokady; the two established a painting studio together. In 1960, after a 17 year break, he held an exhibition at the Helena Rubinstein Pavilion that included 180 works from 30 years of creation. Litvinovsky's work was influenced by various movements and his most well-known works are of portraits, including those of President John Kennedy, Prime Minister Golda Meir, and over the years a series of paintings of the actress Hanna Rovina.
