Preyer for the recovery of his majesty king george VI - london 1951.

"O Thou who art a faithful Healer, send him a perfect healing and speedy recovery. Strengthen him on his bed of illness, and bless him once more with bodily vigour...".

King George VI [1895-1952] King of the United Kingdom and Dominions of the British Commonwealth from 11 December 1936 until his death in 1952. The King's popularity gained during World War II, and he became a symbol of British determination to win it. The king's health began to deteriorate following the war and its pressure. His condition worsened due to heavy cigarette smoking which led to the development of lung cancer and other diseases like atherosclerosis and Birger’s disease. On 31 January 1952, despite being advised not to do so, the king left his residence at London Airport to say goodbye to his home and husband before setting out touring Kenya and Australia. This was his last public appearance. Six days later, at seven-thirty in the morning, the king was found dead in his bed at Sandringham House - he died in his sleep of coronary artery disease at the age of 56. His house returned from Britain to Britain as Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom.
