JUDEN IN COCHIN - The Jews in Cochin. Rare publication about Cochin Jewry - India, by Z.C. KLOETZEL who was sent to survey the Jewish community in Cochin as an emissary of the Aliyat HaNoar. The results of his journey were published in the booklet before us, from the DOKUMENTA JUDAICA series, published by NEKUDAH VERLAG - Jerusalem 1938, German. Accompanied by photographs from the Jewish community in Cochin, from the early known publications about the Jewish community in Cochin.

The author visited Cochin while there was still a Jewish community present, whose Jews were called "Jews of Malbar" or "Jews of Cochin." He visited the famous "Pardesi" Synagogue (one of the seven synagogues in Cochin, and is still active today), and Jewish sites in the city, and the homes of Jewish families. In later years almost the entire community immigrated to Israel and the United States.

64 pages, 23 cm. Tears in spine. Few stains. Good condition.
