A large and massive synagogue key with a Star of David on his head. iron. Eastern Europe, 19th century.
Keys of this kind were used for the entrance door or the gate of the synagogue [a similar key found under the rubble of the Maharsh'a synagogue in Ostroh, Ukraine]. Typical to synagogues in Russia-Ukraine.
